The Ansar-VDP Academy, located at Shafipur, Gazipur on Dhaka-Tangail highway is about 50 km away from the capital city. It is the apex training institute of the Organization covering 359 acres of land with excellent picturesque beauty.
To impart proper training to the Ansar & VDP members, NATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE (NTC) was established in 1970. In 1983 it was renamed as ANSAR TRAINING SCHOOL (ATS), in 1986 as ANSAR ACADEMY and finally in 1995 as ANSAR-VDP ACADEMY. The academy is capable of imparting training to 5000 trainees at a time.
To impart various training to the members of Ansar & VDP covering military, law & order and socio-economic development aspects.
- To develop professionalism through different types of training, seminar, workshop, rally etc.
- To provide training to make skilled working force in different areas of the society.
- To acquaint trainees with security duties and impart the required military training in order to defend our sovereignty and to combat any crisis which may be a threat to the state
- To mobilize the force for socio economic development of the country
The Academy is headed by a Commandant, a Colonel or equivalent, with a total of 171 permanent manpower having a headquarter and 04 wings namely Development, Training, Administration and Medical Wings.

The Academy organizes workshops on various gender, law enforcement and development issues in collaboration of government and non-government organizations.
The ‘PC Yead Ali Parade Ground’ named after the Commander of the Ansar contingent that presented Guard of Honour to the first Prime Minister of Bangladesh Government at Mujibnagar, is the biggest Pucca parade ground in the country. The National Rally and all sorts of physical training, weapon training etc are conducted here. There is a big display gallery at the south-west corner of the parade ground from where an excellent display synchronized with the parade is shown during the National Rally parade by about 500 performers.
A 100-bed hospital with modern healthcare facilities renders medical and treatment facilities to the members of the organization and the people of the surrounding areas as well. The hospital also provides the services of a trauma centre to the victims of the highway road accidents.
A Garments Factory with 295 workers (members of this organization) working two shifts and capable of producing about 1000 units of uniform per day. These uniforms are used by the trainees.
An installation where vocational training on cottage industry and handicrafts are conducted.
There is a good open stadium with the facilities of conducting/organizing all types of outdoor games and sports. Besides, there is a gym and tennis courts. Bangladesh Ansar-VDP earned ‘Independence Day Award 2004’ for its extraordinary contribution in the fields of games and sports in home & abroad.
‘Zia Auditorium and Training Complex, is another prestigious installation of the Academy which not only includes an auditorium with modern air condition and acoustic system with a seating capacity of 364, but also well-furnished computer lab, conference room and class rooms.
Ansar-VDP Academy College and High School
‘Bhasa Shahid Abdul Jabbar College and High School’, named after the language martyr Ansar Commander Abdul Jabbar, is a good educational institute located in the Academy premises. It has been rendering quality education in the primary and secondary levels to the children of officers and staff of Academy and the surrounding populace. In every year a good number of students earn scholarships and the SSC results also have been good and encouraging.

Umbrella shade in the lake is the most attractive location in the academy complex which is frequently used by the shooting teams for making movies, TV serials and ads.
